Early Learning and Care

Bellefield Early Years Centre is an inclusive mainstream pre-school in Enniscorthy, which caters for children from 2 years and 6 months old to school going age.  Our aim is to support the holistic development of each child while working with families to develop a positive partnership between preschool and home.  We provide an environment that is safe and happy, which allows children to express creativity, explore, question, analyse and learn in a fun and stimulating way.  We encourage each child’s natural desire to learn.  Our emphasis is to support young children in their formative years, to find autonomy and acquire the skills to support them transition to primary school.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is play-based offering learning opportunities focused on children’s developing interests, abilities, actions and everyday events happening all around us.  Our provision is guided by evidence-based practice.  The research is clear about the benefits of play in child development.  In Ireland, we have established play as central to the early childhood curriculum.  Both Aistear, the National Curriculum Framework for children between 0-6, and Síolta, the National Quality Framework from the Department of Education, emphasise the importance of play in the home and in early education settings.

Our highly experienced staff team, hold qualifications ranging from QQI/FETAC Levels 5 to 9 in Early Childhood Education and Care, Additional Needs, Social Care and Leadership. Team members regularly engage in continuous professional development.

Bellefield Early Years Centre is a purpose-built centre constructed in 2015.  It has two classrooms, a sensory room and large outdoor area.  Originally catering solely for children with disabilities, since September 2019 we have expanded and provide early learning and care for all children through the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) free preschool scheme and National Childcare Scheme (NCS).  We continue to reserve a number of places each year for children with additional needs.
